BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang voiced opposition here Wednesday to Japan for "making new troubles" over the disputed Ease China Sea issue.

Qin made the remark in response to the reports from some Japanese media that Japan has protested over China's recent gas exploration operation in the East China Sea.

He said that China is having oil and gas exploration operations on its own continental shelf of the East China Sea, which is "beyond reproach".

"China and Japan do have some disagreements on the demarcation of the East China Sea", Qin said, calling for the two sides to resolve the issue through negotiations. Enditem
