Japanese encephalitis epidemic kills 11 in E Nepal

    KATHMANDU, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- As many as 11 of 73 Japanese encephalitis patients admitted in Koshi Zonal Hospital in eastern Nepal died of the disease, the state-run Rising Nepal newspaper reported on Tuesday.

    According to the English newspaper, out of total number of patients admitted in the hospital, 48 have returned home while 6 were transferred to other hospitals and 8 are undergoing treatment.

    According to the hospital at Biratnagar, some 400 km east of Kathmandu, the district comes under attack of the epidemic of encephalitis during August-September every year. Enditem
