KATHMANDU, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Due to the Japanese encephalitis epidemic in 11 districts of Terai plain in southern Nepal, as many as 22 persons have been killed since April, Nepali National News Agency RSS reported on Monday.
Over 200 people, who were suffering from the epidemic, have been treated, the RSS reported.
According to BP Koirala Institute of Health and sciences (BPKIHS), 17 persons, out of 160 admitted in the hospital, died in course of treatment.
The BPKIHS stated that eight of those admitted in the hospital are still undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, according to Koshi Zonal Hospital at Biratnagar, some 400 km east of Kathmandu, five patients of Japanese encephalitis died, while 51 persons were admitted in the hospital.Enditem
