WASHINGTON, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- American Andy Roddick beat
Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 6-4 to win his first title of the year in just
70 minutes at the Cincinnati Masters on Sunday.
This was also Roddick's 21st career title when the
ninth seed hammered down 17 aces and dictated play from the start.
"I'm so happy I turned it round here in Cincinnati
this week," Roddick was quoted as saying.
In a repeat of the 2003 U.S. Open final, which
Roddick won, the American served superbly throughout and never allowed Ferrero a
chance to get a foothold in the match.
The victory will lift Roddick back into the top 10 of
the world rankings.
Ferrero, despite the defeat, will move back inside
the world's top 20. Enditem
