VIENNA NEW CITY, AUSTRIA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's Tian Linna and Tian Jing on Saturday respectively captured the first place in the events of women's obstacle running and shooting in the 53rd World Championship Military Pentathlon in Vienna New City.

    Tian Linna, the world record holder of women's 500 meters obstacle running, clocked a fastest time of 2 minutes and 16.7 seconds, while Tian Jing, who is making here World Championship debut, finished top in women's shooting event with 195 points.

    After the first two days' action, Tian Linna retains the overall individual lead with a total of 2,247.1 points, and the Chinese women top the team event with 6,556.3 points, followed by Russia and Norway.

    Their male compatriots were in fifth place in the men's category after the shooting event.

    "Chinese women are very likely to win their sixth world championship, and the men's team still has a chance of contending for the gold medal," Chen Meilin, head of the Chinese delegation, told xinhua.

    The 53rd World Championship Military Pentathlon opened Thursday in Vienna New City, 40 kilometers south of Vienna.
