    Sepcial Report: Tension accelerates in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- A suicide car bombing in eastern Baghdad killed three people and injured 26 others on Thursday, a police source told Xinhua.

    The suicide attacker blew up a bomb-rigged car at a crossing in Sadr City, a Shiite Muslim district in eastern Baghdad, the source said on customary condition of anonymity.

    On Wednesday, at least 21 people were killed and 81 others were wounded in series attack in Baghdad.

    The unabated violence highlights the precarious security situation in the capital. About 12,000 Iraqi and U.S. reinforcements are rushing to Baghdad in a bid to stem the uprising violence.

    Iraqi and U.S. forces have launched a series of operations including cordoning off the volatile neighborhood of Amariyah in northern Baghdad to carry out house-by-house searches. Enditem
