Special Report: Koizumi's war shrine visit draws harsh criticism
BEIJING, Aug 16 -- Chinese Foreign Minister, Li Zhaoxing, has summoned Japan's Ambassador to China, Miyamoto Yuji to protest against Koizumi's visit to the Yasukuni Shrine. Li said he expresses "strong indignation" and "strong condemnation" over the visit.
Chinese foreign minister Li Zhaoxing said:"Prime Minister Koizumi has ignored strong opposition from the international community, neighbouring Asian countries, and the Japanese people, by still visiting this shrine which venerates war criminals. On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, I express strong indignation and severely condemn the visit."
