[Special report]
BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- British police on Tuesday arrested another suspect in the alleged plot to blow up jetliners over the Atlantic, the first arrest since the plot was foiled and two dozen suspects were detained last week.
Travel misery at London's three main airports entered sixth day Tuesday, when many passengers were still enduring cancellations and delays, as many as 10,000 bags were piled up at airports and airliners threatened to sue for compensation.
British Airways had to cancel 41 flights at Heathrow and 11 at Gatwick, while budget airline Ryanair scrapped eight services at Stansted. BA chief executive Willie Walsh said his airline may sue Airport operator BAA for compensation.
London's metropolitan police said the latest suspect was detained around noon in the Thames Valley area just west of London.
The person was held on suspicion of being involved in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, The Guardian reported Tuesday.
Last Thursday, British police said they had foiled a plot by would-be suicide bombers to blow up simultaneously up to 10 airliners flying to the United States. Twenty-four people were arrested. Enditem
