Special report: Tension accelerates in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- A suicide bomber detonated his explosive-laden truck near the office of a main Kurdish political party in Mosul on Tuesday, leaving five people killed and 15 wounded, police said.

    According to the police, the attack targeted the office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, headed by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, in Mosul, about 400 km north of Baghdad.

    The explosion also damaged a building and set several cars on fire. The 15 injured people were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
