China finishes 1-2 in men's race walking

 

   BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Bo Xiangdong and Huang Zhengyu made a Chinese one-two finish at the men's 10,000 meters race walk in the IAAF World Junior Championships here on Saturday.

China's Liu Hong wins women's 10,000m race walking

 

   BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's Liu Hong survived a yellow-card warning to claim the women's 10,000m race walk title at the IAAF World Junior Championships here on Saturday. The 19-year-old clocked a personal best time of 45 minutes and 12.84 seconds under sweltering conditions, while compatriot Chai Xue finished sixth in 48:09.51.

Kenyan Komen sets new mark at junior worlds

   BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Willy Rutto Komen set a new championship record of the men's 3000 meters steeplechase here on Saturday, adding another gold for medal table leaders Kenya on the fifth day of the IAAF World Junior Championships.

German Schaffarzik grabs women's javelin title

   BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- German Sandra Schaffarzik won the women's javelin throw at the IAAF World Junior Championships here on Saturday. Schaffarzik scored 60.45 meters in her second attempt and sustained her lead to the end.

Kenyans finish 1-2 in women's 3,000m

 

   BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan runners Veronica Nyaruai Wanjiru and Pauline Korikwiang took gold and silver respectively in the women's 3,000m race at the IAAF World Junior Championships on Saturday.
