UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General
Kofi Annan said on Saturday the prime ministers of Lebanon and Israel had agreed
to stop fighting at 0500 GMT on Monday.
CAIRO, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese government on
Saturday approved a UN resolution calling for an end to hostilities with Israel,
Britain's Sky News television reported.
Lebanon's Cabinet unanimously approved the UN
resolution, with some reservations, Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora
was quoted as saying.
Hezbollah chief says to abide by
ceasefire brokered by UN
BEIRUT, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah leader Hassan
Nasrallah said on Saturday that his group would abide by any ceasefire brokered
by the United Nations, but it would continue to fight until Israel's withdrawal.
"The group would abide by a ceasefire brokered by UN
chief Kofi Annan or an agreement reached between Lebanon and Israel," Nasrallah
said in a televised speech on the group's al-Manar television.
Olmert nods to UN resolution, to urge govt to
accept
JERUSALEM, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Ehud
Olmert accepted on late Friday a UN Security Council resolution calling for a
ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah and will urge the government to
approve it.
Olmert will urge the cabinet to approve during Sunday's meeting the resolution proposed by the U.S. and France to the UN Security Council aimed to end the one-month-old fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, according to a report carried by local newspaper Ha'aretz on its website.
