JAKARTA, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Ambassador to
Indonesia Hassan Muslimani has said that his country at present does not need
fighters from other countries, because its own fighters are still able to defend
their land from Israeli aggression.
"We, however, highly appreciate the spirit of the
Indonesian fighters who want to help us fight the Israeli forces, but what we
really want is moral support from other nations around the world,"Antara news
agency on Saturday quoted Hassan Muslimani as saying.
Speaking at a press conference here on Friday at
Muhammadiyah office which was also attended by Palestinian Ambassador Rariz N
Mehdawi, Iranian Ambassador Behrooz Kamal Vandi and Syrian Ambassador Moh
Darwish Baladi, the Lebanese envoy extended his gratitude for the support from
the Indonesian people and government, other neighboring countries and Muslims
around the world.
Meanwhile, Syrian Ambassador Moh Darwish said his
country would fully support the struggle of the Lebanese people to defend
themselves against Israeli aggression.
Moh Darwish said he also supported the Palestinian
people in their fight against Israeli pressure, and his country, Syria, has been
engaged in 10 different wars during 60 years of Israeli occupation in the Middle
East.
He also deplored Israeli troops who blocked various
humanitarian assistance on their way to Lebanon, while the Israeli aggression to
Lebanon has claimed hundreds of lives.
On the same occasion, Palestinian Ambassador Fariz
Mehdawi said Israeli military aggression to its neighboring countries was not
the first, and Lebanon happened to get its turn this time.
Iranian Ambassador Behrooz Kamal said that Israel
posed a major threat to its neighboring countries because of its ambition to
constantly expand its territory.
"Since it occupied part of Palestine in 1948, Israel
never had a clear borderline, and always kept expanding into its neighboring
countries," Behrooz Kamal said.
"Most of the Jewish people actually longed for a lasting peace with other countries but the Israeli Zionist movement continued to wage a war against its neighboring countries aimed at snatching their land," he added. Enditem
