Special Report: Major UK air terror plot thwarted
ISLAMABAD, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has imposed hand luggage restrictions on all its international flights following the anti-terrorist alert in Britain, the state-run news agency APP reported on Friday.
PIA spokesman said that passengers traveling to United Kingdom by PIA flights were allowed only to carry their travel documents and essential medicines in a clear plastic bags.
"The passengers traveling to Manchester this morning were not allowed to carry on board their hand luggage, which was taken from them and booked into the hold," he said, adding that the Airlines provided the transparent plastic bags.
However, he said that from Saturday onwards, all the passengers going abroad by PIA will have to comply with the new restrictions on hand luggage and carry the prescribed articles in clear plastic bags of their own.
Passengers flying from Pakistan to different parts of the world through PIA have been ordered not to take any liquids or gel, including drinks and toothpaste on board the aircraft. Enditem
