MANILA, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. congressional delegation will arrive in
Manila on Friday to discuss economic, political and security issues with
Philippine officials, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in
Manila on Wednesday.
U.S. Congressman Henry Hyde, Chairman of the House International Relations
Committee, will lead the delegation of five representatives from the U.S.
Congress to visit the Philippines from August 11 to 13, the statement said.
The delegation will meet with Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo
in Presidential Palace to discuss bilateral issues, the current political
situation in the country, economic development, the fight against terrorism and
to reaffirm U.S.-Philippines ties, it added.
The visiting lawmakers are all members of the House International Relations
Committee, according to the statement. Enditem
