HARARE, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwean Vice President Joice Mujuru on Monday met with her South African counterpart Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and Mozambican Prime Minister Luisa Diogo in South Africa, The Herald reported on Tuesday.
The three, who are Southern Africa's most powerful woman politicians, met behind closed doors for almost two hours, the newspaper said.
Details of their deliberations were not available but the talks were believed to have centered on bilateral issues and the empowerment of women.
They met a day after addressing a conference to launch the Progressive Women's Movement in South Africa.
The three leaders told the conference programs their governments were pursuing to empower women and promote them into positions of leadership.
The launch of the movement, which will promote the advancement of women and eliminate discrimination against them, coincided with the 50th anniversary of the 1956 march by South African women against apartheid laws that restricted their movements. Enditem
