LUSAKA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- A total of 36 foreigners have been nabbed by the Zambian immigration department over the weekend in a clean-up operation.
Immigration spokesperson Mulako Mbangweta confirmed the apprehension, which took place in Ndola and Kitwe of Copperbelt Province, saying the foreigners were arrested for illegal entry or stay in the country.
Of the foreigners, 22 were from the Democratic Republic of Congo, 10 from Somalia, three from Tanzania and one from Mali, said Mbangweta.
The spokesperson said all the 36 were in detention waiting to appear before the court.
Meanwhile, she called on foreigners entering the country to cooperate with immigration authorities and adhere to Zambia's immigration laws. Enditem
