Colombian president promises transparency, improved security

    BOGOTA, Aug 7 (Xinhua) -- Alvaro Uribe, who was sworn in as Colombian president on Monday, announced that his government will be transparent and fight to reduce violence.

    The president said in a publicly broadcast speech that the new government would focus on five sectors: a secure democracy, social cohesion, transparency, independent institutions, and public investment.>>>
