BEIJING, Aug. 7 -- Work on the eagerly awaited Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt collaboration "A Might heart" -- based on the kidnapping and murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl -- has begun in Pakistan.

The movie, which is an adaptation of Pearl's widow Mariane's book "A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl", will see Jolie playing the role of Mariane, while Pitt will have the behind the scenes role of producer.

The movie, directed by Michael Winterbottom, is based on Mariane Pearl's account of her husband's abduction and subsequent beheading in Karachi in 2002 while researching a story on Islamic militancy.

According to Dawn newspaper, filming for scenes began under tight security at the Metropole hotel where Pearl was last seen when he hired a cab after crossing over the road from Village restaurant.
