BEIJING,
Aug. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- 17 countries including China participated the
Asian-Pacific Regional Earthquake Exercise 2006 (APREE), which opened
Friday in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China's Hebei Province.
"The goal of the activity is to ensure all the
participating rescue teams are acquainted with the deployment of the United
Nations' international rescue operation," said Arjun Katoch, chief of the Field
Coordination Support Section (FCSS) in the Emergency Services Branch (ESB) of
the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The exercise, held from August 5 to 8 in
Shijiazhuang, was sponsored by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of
Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and China Seismological Bureau.
Rescue teams from 17 countries including China
