BEIJING, August 5-- The Israeli military has continued its offensive in southern Lebanon, with bombs killing at least 40 civilians, as the conflict entered its 25th day. Alistair Shewring has the details.

Friday saw another day of violence, with more civilians than combatants being killed. Security sources said one Israeli air strike killed 33 farm workers loading fruit onto trucks and wounded another 20 near the Syrian border. Israeli planes also destroyed four bridges on the main coastal highway north of Beirut. The bombardment of a house in the frontline Taibeh village in south Lebanon killed seven civilians and wounded ten. Israeli jets also hit the coastal area south of Tyre in a camp for refugees, injuring one civilian.

Israeli Defence Minister Amir Peretz said the operation will continue until Hezbollah no longer threatens northern Israel.
