    BAGHDAD, July 31 (Xinhua) -- A car bomb went off near an Iraqi police patrol in northern Baghdad on Monday, wounding a policeman and a civilian, a police source said.

    An explosive-packed car detonated at about 9:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) when a police patrol was passing in the main road in Waziriyah neighborhood, the source said on condition of anonymity.

    The blast damaged a police car and wounded a policeman aboard along with a civilian, the source said.

    In a separate incident, a makeshift bomb went off at about 9:00 a.m. (0500 GMT) near a passing U.S. patrol under a bridge in Mashtal neighborhood in eastern Baghdad, the source said. It was not clear whether the U.S. troops sustained any casualties, the source added.
