KABUL, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S.-led Coalition forces detained four suspected al-Qaida operatives during a raid Saturday in the Afghan eastern province of Khowst province, said the military.
In the early morning operation in the vicinity of Sal Kalay, Coalition forces encountered no resistance and there were no casualties to either the Coalition or the enemy fighters, said the U.S.-led military.
Two AK-47 assault rifles and a briefcase of extremist-related documents were confiscated from the location.
Hundreds of al-Qaida terrorists are believe to hide in the mountainous provinces in east Afghanistan, where Coalition forces have launched a massive offensive "Mountain Lion" since mid-April.
"Coalition and Afghan forces will continue to fight extremists in areas throughout Afghanistan to bring greater security to the Afghan people," said Coalition spokesman Col. Thomas Collins in the statement. Enditem
