CARACAS, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela and Belarus on Monday signed a
series of agreements on cooperation in the fields of technology, education and
energy, during a visit by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, according to reports
from Belarus's capital Minsk on Monday.
Chavez began an official visit to Belarus on Sunday, the first ever to the
former Soviet republic by a Latin American president.
Chavez held talks with Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko and
signed a joint declaration, in which both leaders agreed to strengthen
consultations and cooperation in political, technological, educational,
military, and energy sectors.
After the visit to Belarus, Chavez will head for Russia to meet President
Vladimir Putin and seal a deal to buy Russian planes and weapons. Enditem
