PANGANDARAN, Indonesia, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Rescue workers are using helicopters to search for the bodies of tsunami victims off West Java's coastal areas of Cimerak and Cijulang on Thursday after they were believed to have been carried away by sea waters.
"We have received reports that many people from the two areas are still missing," chief of the local military resort Lt. Col. Mulyono told reporters in Bandung, capital of West Java province on Thursday.
The week-long search for the bodies of victims from the two areas began on Monday shortly after a 6.8 magnitude undersea earthquake and tsunami struck Java's southern coast, he said.
He said rescue workers were also searching for the bodies of victims believed to have been buried under the debris of collapsed homes in the two areas.
Until 08.52 a.m. on Thursday, the death toll from the earthquake and tsunami in West Java alone reached 359. Enditem
