MEXICO CITY, July 19 (Xinhua) -- A total of 121 Mexicans have left Lebanon, escaping Israel's military offensives in the country, Mexico's foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
The Mexicans left Lebanon via the northern border with Syria for Turkey, where they were welcomed by Mexican diplomats, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry thanked its Syrian and Turkish counterparts for facilitating the Mexican nationals' evacuation from the war-affected area.
Mexican diplomats are in contact with about 600 Mexican citizens who are still in Lebanon, in case that further evacuations are needed, the ministry added.
Israel's air raids on Lebanon have killed around 280 people and injured 850 others, Lebanese Health Minister Mohamed Jalifa said.
Mexico has publicly condemned both Hezbollah guerrillas' rocket attacks on the Israeli territory and the "disproportionate" use of force by Israeli forces. Enditem
