Urgent: Chinese president meets world leaders in St. Petersburg

    ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao met here on Monday afternoon with some world leaders after the outreach session of the G8 summit.

    According to Chinese officials, Hu met French President Jacques Chirac and newly-elected Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi.

    On Monday afternoon, Hu also attended a three-nation summit together with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Enditem
