    NZ plans evacuations from Lebanon    

    WELLINGTON, July 17 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand is making plans to evacuate about 30 nationals known to be in Lebanon, Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters said Monday.

    "Evacuation plans are being made as we speak," Peters, who is in the United States for an official visit, told National Radio.

    He said the New Zealand government will work with Britain and France on getting New Zealanders out.

    While the military crisis was causing problems, to move people "as much as can be done is being done," he said. Full story>>

    AMMAN, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of Jordanians vacationing in Lebanon are continuing to make their way back home because of Israel's military offensive in Lebanon, local newspaper Jordan Times reported on Sunday.

    According to the report, Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent buses early Friday to its embassy in Lebanon to secure the return of Jordanians.

    Around 200 Jordanians were brought home safely on Friday and an additional three buses were dispatched on Saturday, said the Jordan Times. Full story>>

    27 passengers arrive in Cyprus from Lebanon

    NICOSIA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- An Olympic Airways aircraft arrived at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus on Saturday carrying passengers fleeing Lebanon via Damascus.

    An official press release said that 27 passengers, including 22 Cypriots, disembarked from the aircraft, which then continued its flight to Greece with the rest 60 passengers. Full story>>
