DAMASCUS, July 15 (Xinhua) -- A Syrian Information Ministry official dismissed reports that Israel had bombed its military targets on Saturday as baseless, the state-run television reported.

The Qatar-based al-Jazeera television reported earlier that Israeli warplanes struck four military bases on the Syrian side of the border with Lebanon.

According to the Lebanese police, Israeli warplanes fired four missiles on Saturday in the no-man area between the Lebanese Masnaa border crossing and the Syrian border town of Jadideh Yabouth.

Israel waged massive air raids and imposed sea blockade on Lebanon in response to a cross-border attack by Hezbollah militants who kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others on Wednesday.

Syrian Minister of Immigrants Butheina Sha'ban warned that Israel might strike Syria which fully backed the national resistance against the Israeli aggression in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon. Enditem
