A cloud of grayish-brown lava fragments flows down the gully of Mayon volcano as seen from Legazpi city in Albay province, 340 kilometers (212 miles) southwest of Manila, Philippines, as it continues "quiet eruption" Saturday, July 15, 2006. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, PHIVOLCS, raised the third of a five-staged alert level of Mayon volcano after recording several earthquakes and observing 'lava trickles' flowing down its slopes yesterday. The volcano, a major tourist attraction because of its near-perfect cone shape, last erupted in 2001 forcing the evacuation of 50,000 people.
