Special Report: New clash between Israeli, Lebanese troops

NICOSIA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- An Olympic Airways aircraft arrived at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus on Saturday carrying passengers fleeing Lebanon via Damascus.

An official press release said that 27 passengers, including 22 Cypriots, disembarked from the aircraft, which then continued its flight to Greece with the rest 60 passengers.

Cypriot Foreign Ministry said that it followed the situation in Lebanon closely.

Cypriot authorities evacuated a total of 115 persons, including 102 Cypriot nationals, from Lebanon early on Friday via Damascus by a Cyprus Airways aircraft.

Israel launched massive airstrike against Lebanon, destroying many infrastructure, including Beirut international airport, bridges, power stations and highways, after Lebanon's Shiite militant group Hezbollah seized two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others in a cross-border attack on Wednesday.
