Russia, US vow to strengthen nuclear
non-proliferation
SAINT PETERSBURG, Russia, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Russia and
the United States on Saturday pledged close cooperation to strengthen the
nuclear non-proliferation regime.
"We recognize the devastation that could befall our
peoples and the world community if nuclear weapons or materials or other weapons
of mass destruction were to fall into the hands of terrorists," U.S. President
George W. Bush and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin said in a statement
after their talks.
Bush, Putin agree on building int'l
nuke enrichment centers
SAINT PETERSBURG, Russia, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Visiting
U.S. President George W. Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin announced
here on Saturday that they have agreed on a plan to prevent the spread of
nuclear weapons by setting up international enrichment centers.
The two leaders unveiled that initiative at a joint press
conference after they held talks on Saturday.
Putin rejects sanctions against Iran
over nuke issue

Bush arrives in Russia for G8

SAINT PETERSBURG, Russia, July 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S.
President George W. Bush arrived in Saint Petersburg on Friday for talks with
Russian President Vladimir Putin and a summit of G8 leaders.
Bush flew to St Petersburg after a stop in Germany, a day
before a meeting of the Group of Eight leading industrial nations.
Putin to meet Bush in shadow of
Mideast crisis
ST. PETERSBURG, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Russian President
Vladimir Putin is to hold an informal meeting with his U.S. counterpart George
W. Bush here late on Friday ahead of a G8 summit that begins on Saturday.
According to the Kremlin, the two leaders will discuss a
wide range of issues - from Russia's accession to the WTO, the turmoil in the
Middle East to the Iranian and Korean Peninsula nuclear issues.
