20 injured in Hizbollah rocket attacks on northern Israel

    JERUSALEM, July 14 (Xinhua) -- A spokesman of the Israeli medical service Megen David Adom told Xinhua on Friday that 20 people were wounded during the past half hour by rockets fired by Lebanon's Hizbollah militia onto northern Israel.

    The spokesman said that one of the wounded was in critical condition, four sustained moderate injuries and others were slightly wounded.    Full story

Beirut airport hit again by Israeli airstrike

BEIRUT, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Israeli warplanes bombarded the international airport of Beirut again on Friday, targeting a runway of the airport.

    The airstrike on the airport, the third in the past 24 hours, came at around 11:00 a.m. (0800 GMT), local witnesses said. No casualty has been reported yet.

    On Thursday, Israeli warplanes struck twice the runway of Beirut airport, forcing closedown of the airport. Full story>>      

Israel bombards southern Beirut

    BEIRUT, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Israeli warplanes struck stronghold of Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah in southern Beirut on Friday morning, the pan-Arab television channel al-Jazeera reported.

    Israeli warplanes fired missiles at targets in southern Beirut, including a fuel storage tank at a power station, killing four and wounding 50 others, al-Jazeera said.  Full story>>

    BEIRUT, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Israeli warplanes bombed the fuel storage tanks of Lebanese Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut's southern suburb after nightfall Thursday, Lebanese Future TV reported.

Israel intensifies attacks in Lebanon

    BEIRUT, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Israeli forces intensified their retaliatory attacks in Lebanon Thursday and brought the death toll to 55 civilians.

    Israeli army is imposing a comprehensive blockade on Lebanese air, sea and land in a response to Hizbollah's capture of two Israeli soldiers on Wednesday morning.

    A total of 55 Lebanese civilians, including children, were killed in Israeli raids cross the country on Thursday, Hizbollah's television channel al-Manar reported. Full story>>

Rockets fired from Lebanon hit Israel's northern city

    JERUSALEM, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Two Katyusha rockets fired from Lebanon hit the northern Israeli city of Haifa Thursday evening, a spokeswoman of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told Xinhua.

    The rockets fell in Haifa at 8 p.m. (1700 GMT), the spokeswoman said, adding that there was no report of injury or damage.

    Haifa is the third largest city in Israel, 40 km south to the border in the north. The launch represented the farthest a rocket reached within Israel.

Iran denies Israeli allegation in Hizbollah's transfer of soldiers

    TEHRAN, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Thursday denied the Israeli allegation that Lebanon's Hizbollah attempted to transfer two Israeli soldiers it took hostage to Iran.

    "We strongly deny such reports," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.

    "Israel is talking absurdities since it is in desperation and a crisis it has created," he added.

    Earlier, Israel said that there was information that Hizbollah militants were attempting to transfer the two kidnapped Israeli soldiers to Iran. Full story>>
