JAKARTA, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has postponed visits to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) scheduled for July 18-19 and to South Korea on July 19-22, due to the tension on the Korean Peninsula, the Presidential spokesman announced on Thursday.

"President Yudhoyono has decided to postpone visits to North Korea (the DPRK) and South Korea," spokesman Dino Pati Djalal said.

It was not an appropriate time now to pay the visits and Indonesia would reschedule the plan after it could be assured of the development of the situation there, Dino said.

The president called on all the parties concerned to refrain from any acts that could worsen the situation on the Korean Peninsula and to give priority to diplomatic channels in settling the standoff in the nuclear crisis, the spokesman said.

"The president reaffirmed Indonesia's hope for all the concerned parties to resume the six-party talks," Dino added.

The six-party talks involve the DPRK, South Korea, the United States, Japan, Russia and China.

World attention has focused on the Korean Peninsula again after the DPRK test-fired missiles last week and Japan and the United States threatened to adopt tough measures against the DPRK. Enditem
