(Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese party leader Wednesday called on people to follow
the example of Cong Fei, a young singer, to contribute to fostering sound social
trends and building a harmonious society.
Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the
Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the
call Wednesday in Beijing when he met with a team giving lectures on deeds of
Cong Fei.
Cong Fei was a young singer in Shenzhen, south
China's Guangdong Province. For more than ten years, he had financially aided
178 poor students and disabled persons. Cong died of illness in April at the age
of 37.
Before his death, Cong donated his cornea, which
enabled six people with eye ailments to recover eyesight.
Cong's deeds have moved lots of people across the
country. A website bearing the title of Shenzhen Spirit has been established to
remember him.
Around 800 people listened to the lectures in the Great Hall of the People by Cong's wife Xing Dan and three other people. Enditem
