BANGKOK, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's ruling Thai Rak Thai Party (TRT) spokesman Sitha Divari has urged the Thai public to stay away from the Friday July 14 anti-Thaksin rally planned by the People's Alliance for Democracy, local media Monday reported.

The spokesman said it is inappropriate for such a rally to take place at the juncture when Thais are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the King's accession to the throne.

He added that it's only a co-incidence that the rally will take place on the anniversary of the TRT Party's founding as PAD has previously staged rallies on Fridays.

Asking the Thai public not to heed rumors that certain Thai RakThai party members are opposed to the monarchy, Sitha said all members of the party are loyal to the monarchy.

The spokesman said there would not be a problem if the PAD moves its rally to TRT headquarters on Friday as long as the PAD activities abide by the law. Enditem
