HANGZHOU, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The Hengdian World
Studios, dubbed "Chinawood" by Hollywood Reporter, was selected one of the top
10 film and television production studios by the China Film Association (CFA)
and the Chinese Television Artists Association.
Kang Jianmin, CFA executive
vice president, announced the list at the "2006 China Summit Forum For Movie
& Television Industry" in the eastern town of Hengdian in East China's
Zhejiang Province on Saturday.
Other production companies named to the top 10
included the Changchun Film Studio Movie Wonderland Co., Ltd, Shanghai Film
& Television Production Studio, Zhuozhou Film and Television Studio, CCTV
Zhongshan Studio, Seashore Television & Film, and China West Film Studio.
Independent film and television production companies
have emerged from state-run film studios and broadcasters which used to make all
motion pictures in China until the 1990s.
"I hope the winners will become the torchbearers for
the other 100-plus film and television production studios across the country,"
