Special report: 1st anniversary of London bombings

HELSINKI, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Finland, which is holding the EU presidency, urged all countries Friday to work together to prevent and crack down on terrorist acts.

The appeal was made in a declaration Friday on the occasion of the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks in London.

The declaration "underline the need for all countries to work together to prevent and to suppress terrorist acts," saying "The inhuman acts in London a year ago remind us that nobody is safe from the threat of terrorism."

Terrorism remains a major security threat for the European Union and for the international community as a whole, the declaration said, adding that the EU's anti-terrorism stand is clear: to combat terrorism globally while respecting human rights, and to make Europe safer while allowing its citizens to live in an area of freedom, security and justice.

The July 7 London bombings last year killed 52 and injured over 700. Enditem
