BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhua) -- China has launched a nationwide campaign to crack down on fraudulent accounting in state-owned, listed, overseas-funded and real estate firms, the Ministry of Finance said on Friday.
The ministry said the major focus of the campaign is to determine whether the corporate accounting for the 2006 fiscal year is authentic and legal, and information disclosure is sufficient and complete as required by regulations.
The move aims to improve the supervision and inspection of accounting by corporate accountants and accountants' offices, said the ministry.
The ministry has ordered the financial supervision of local financial departments and the offices of commissioners it sent to local departments to kick off the campaign, according to a statement published on the official website of the ministry.
