RAMALLAH, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Fatah movement led by President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday accused Israel of thwarting a peace plan agreed by Palestinian factions and powers, including the ruling Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

    The Document of National Accordance, which implicitly recognizes Israel and calls for a Palestinian statehood existing in peace alongside the Jewish state, was recently adopted in principle by all Palestinian factions except the Islamic Jihad (Holy War).

    A senior Fatah member Jamal Nazzal denounced that a few days after the agreement over the document, Israel launched military operation against the Gaza Strip following the abduction of an Israeli soldier in a Hamas armed wing-led raid at an army base outside Gaza-Israel border, reported the Voice of Palestine radio.

    "Israel put the document aside and turned the table over on the Palestinians after it saw them agreeing on peace, but Israel doesn't want peace," Nazzal was quoted as saying.

    He, meanwhile, called on the Palestinians to "speed up" in implementing the document and its articles. Enditem
