    BEIJING, July 5 -- The First Session of the Working Group on Trade Statistics of Sino-German Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Beijing from June 26 to 27.

    Sibylle von Oppeln-Bronikowski, head of the Department V of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany £¨FSO£© who attended the session, headed a five-member delegation from FSO and visited the National Bureau of Statistics of China on the morning of June 28.

    During the visit, Commissioner Qiu Xiaohua met with the delegation and had a friendly discussion with German guests. He reviewed the more than one decade of friendly and fruitful cooperation between the two statistical offices of China and Germany, and briefed the delegation on the statistical system of China, data release and the problems in Chinese statistical work.

    Sibylle von Oppeln-Bronikowski gave an introduction to the on-going activities in FSO and the problematic aspects needed to be improved.

    Also attending the meeting were Messrs. Feng Nailin, director-general of the German Department of International Cooperation, Wang Kechen, deputy director-general of Chinese Department of Trade and External Economic Relations Statistics and other NBS officials. Enditem
