BAGHDAD, July 3 (Xinhua) -- A suicide car bomb attack hit an Iraqi army checkpoint in Baghdad on Monday, killing four people, including two Iraqi soldiers, an Interior Ministry source said.
A suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car through the barricades of an Iraqi army checkpoint near the Kendi hospital in eastern Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, a car bomb blast missed a police patrol and hit a busy market in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, killing at least five Iraqi civilians and wounding more than 20 others, a police source said.
Violence has mounted despite the formation of a new unity government in the war-torn country in May, three years after the U.S.-led invasion. Enditem
