Sepcial Report: Tension accelerates in Iraq
BAGHDAD, July 2 (Xinhua) -- A Shiite lawmaker escaped unhurt a roadside bomb attack on his convoy in central Baghdad on Sunday, an Interior Ministry source said.
But three civilians were wounded when the roadside bomb went off near the convoy of Shiekh Jalal al-Dien al-Saghier, a member of parliament from the dominant Shiite bloc, the United Iraqi Alliance, in the Hurriyah Square, the source said on condition of anonymity.
The attack came a day after unknown gunmen kidnapped a female Sunni Arab lawmaker, Taiseer Najah al-Mashhadani, along with seven of her bodyguards while traveling in a Shiite neighborhood in northeastern Baghdad. Enditem
