Special report: New violence between Israel, Palestine
GAZA, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haneya urged the
international community to take action to end Israel's massive offensive in the
Gaza Strip, as he inspected the damage to his office after an Israeli air strike
on Sunday.
"It's an attack against a Palestinian symbol," he said, urging the
international community and the Arab League to intervene to bring an end to
"this agression."
He described the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip to free an Israeli
soldier captured a week ago by Palestinian militants as "an insane policy."
An Israeli air raid struck Haniya's office early Sunday, causing a fire but
no casualties, witnesses and security sources said. Haneya was not present at
the time of the raid.
The Israeli army confirmed it launched an air strike on Haneya's office and
another two targeting Hamas infrastructure in Gaza, vowing to use "all means" to
secure the release of captured soldier Gilad Shalit. Enditem
