Special report: Tension accelerates in Iraq

BAGHDAD, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi police patrol found on Saturday six bodies dumped inside a house under construction in Baghdad's southern district of Doura, while death toll of bombing in Sadr City market rose to 62 people killed and 114 wounded, an Interior Ministry source said.

"We have found six unidentified bodies in the house behind the Faiyaliq School early in the morning," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The bodies were bound and with bullet holes in their heads and chests, the source said.

In another development, the death toll of the Sadr City car bombing rose to 62 people and 114 others wounded, the source added.

The blast, which took place shortly after 10:00 a.m. (0600 GMT), apparently caused by a parking explosive-packed vehicle near the Souq al-Auola market in the heavily populated Sadr City, the source said.

The attack targeted a passing police patrol, which escaped unhurt, he said, adding that all the victims were civilians.

Violence has mounted despite the formation of a new unity government in the war-torn country after three years of the U.S.-led invasion. Enditem
