BAGHDAD, June 30 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. marine was killed in clashes with attackers in the volatile Anbar province on Friday,the U.S. military said.

    A U.S. marine, assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5, died of wounds sustained due to enemy action while operating in Anbar, the military said in a statement.

    The latest death brought to about 2,525 the number of U.S.military personnel killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.

    Tensions in the volatile area of Anbar province, which includes Fallujah and Ramadi, is always high as attacks have been launched sporadically at the US and Iraqi governmental forces there.Enditem
