PYONGYANG, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) on Sunday warned the United States to stop provocation against it, vowing to repel any invasion by Washington.

"The U.S. remains unchanged even in the new century in its Korea strategy to invade the whole of Korea and establish its supremacy over Northeast Asia," the Rodong Sinmun newspaper said in an editorial on the Korean War anniversary day.

The Korean War broke out on June 25, 1950.

"The U.S. has persistently sought to perpetuate the division of Korea and provoke another war of aggression against the DPRK for such a long period by increasing its military presence in south Korea," said the editorial, which was carried by the Korean Central News Agency.

It also said that if the United States ignited a war again, the army and people of the DPRK would mercilessly wipe out the aggressors and victoriously conclude its stand-off with the United States.

Meanwhile, the paper accused the United States of launching "a war of aggression and a war of massacre of civilians" 56 years ago as the North American country "committed indiscriminate killings and destruction unprecedented in the world history of war."

On Sunday, more than 100,000 people took part in an anti-U.S. rally in Pyongyang, shouting slogans such as "We vehemently denounce the U.S. monstrous crimes against the Korean nation!" and "The U.S. imperialist aggressors quit South Korea at once." Enditem
