GAZA, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Israel closed down all
crossings and terminals on the borders between Israel and the Gaza Strip on
Sunday, following an armed attack on an Israeli army post southeast of the
strip, Palestinian officials said.
Salim Abu Safeya, chief of terminals security, told reporters that Israel shut down the commercial crossing
of Karni, the only exit for Palestinian goods and humanitarian aids, on the
borders between eastern Gaza City and Israel.
He added that Israel had officially informed the
Palestinian side that all other crossings between the Gaza Strip and Israel are
closed down until a further notice.
Meanwhile, Rafah Crossing point on the borders
between the Gaza Strip and Egypt was also closed down after The European Union
monitors didn't come as usual to observe the operation of the crossing by the
Palestinians.
The closure on the Gaza Strip was imposed after three
armed groups, including ruling Hamas movement, carried out an armed attack
against an Israeli army post in Israeli controlled territory east of Rafah
crossing in southern Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources reported that
several Israeli army tanks and armored vehicles, backed by Apache helicopters
which hovered over the area, incurred into eastern Rafah apparently in search
for more militants. Enditem
