| Tourists visit the Qirhan Salt Lake in the hinterland of Qaidam Basin, southwest China's Qinghai Province, June 15, 2006. Qinghai-Tibet railway runs through the Golmud City which situates in southern Qaidam Basin, known as a "treasure bowl." The basin, the elevation of its floor is 2,600-3,000 m above sea level, adjoins the Qilian Mountain in the north and northeast, the Altun Mountains in the northwest, and the Kunlun Mountains in the south.
