PYONGYANG, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday accused the United States of intensifying military provocations by conducting spy flights against it.

"The ceaseless illegal intrusion of the planes has created a grave danger of military conflict in the air above the region," said an editorial carried by official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The United States has repeatedly conducted spy flights over the airspace in the east of Hwadae County and other places along the eastern coast of the DPRK since early of June, according to the report.

"They would not be able to escape the same end as that of a tiger moth fated to perish in the flames", the KCNA warned.

The editorial came after United States and Japan in recent days asked the DPRK to halt preparations of an alleged test-launch of along-range missile.

The DPRK launched its first man-made satellite from Hwadae County in 1998, which was seen as an important step toward the development of long-range missiles. Enditem
