COLOGNE, June 21 (Xinhua) -- England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has said
that his team will have to defend better to keep alive the chances of winning
the World Cup.
England's defensive weakness was exposed when Sweden scored two goals both
from set pieces in Tuesday's match which ended up 2-2.
"We let them play a lot of long balls close to our box and we suffered,"
said Eriksson. "If we want to go on playing we have to defend better at
set-pieces. "
Eriksson said that England have to correct the defensive problem in time
for their next-round match against Ecuador on Sunday.
"I know that Sweden are a big, strong, physical team -- but so are we. We
should have defended better and we have to do it before Sunday," he said.
